Waxxi’Äôs Interactive Podcast with Michael Parekh and Mike Arrington
On Thursday, June 29, 2006 from 10:30AM-12:00PM PDT, after brief introductions, we’Äôll once again open up the discussion to the global audience, and the conversation begins. The discussion will surround the Internet of yesteryear, its morph into the world of Web 2.0, and where it is going. We’Äôll also discuss pioneering companies in both eras, interesting trends across the globe, and whatever you bring to the conversation.
Here’Äôs how it works: everyone who registered receives a dial-in number (toll free within the US, direct dial for people outside the US) a unique user code, and instructions to come to this page on the day of the podcast recording, to participate in simultaneous via chat/IM . For our international members and participants, this means you don’Äôt have to call in, in order to participate. For everyone, it also acts somewhat like a backchannel at a conference, and plays an important role in the overall conversation flow.
Who will participate? The investment community (VCs, Angels, private investors), the financial sectors, entrepreneurs, startups, pre-IPO companies, representatives of large technology, service and manufacturing companies, bloggers, podcasters, the media and ?
Michael Parekh
Michael is both a pioneer of the Internet and a world-renowned investment figure, with over 20 years’Äô experience on Wall Street. As a former partner at Goldman Sachs, and founder of its Internet Research effort in 1994, Michael has been living online since the early days of CompuServe in the 80s and AOL in the '90s.
He helped build the Internet Research effort at the firm, and was the lead research analyst for the IPOs of Internet companies like UUNET, Yahoo!, eBay amongst many other companies, as well as covering firms like America Online.
A native of India, Michael, aka Mukesh, grew up in the Middle East, coming to the US in 1977 for college. He splits his time currently between the East and West coasts with increasing trips to Asia and Europe, focusing on Internet trends, technologies, and investments. More about Michael may be found on his compelling blog.
Michael Arrington
In building TechCrunch over the last year, Michael (Mike) Arrington has become one of Web 2.0’Äôs most highly respected pundits, educators, and analysts.
A review on TechCrunch can realistically lead to thousands if not millions of customers, members, downloads or page views for a Web 2.0 startup. Founded one year ago this June, it has become the industry standard resource, and is growing rapidly (see MobileCrunch, TechCrunch France and TechCrunch Japan for more).
He also writes Crunchnotes, a companion blog to TechCrunch, and is a member of the always-enlightening, Gillmor Gang. Additionally, Mike is a founder of edgeio. We don’Äôt know when or if he actually sleeps. Mike’Äôs complete bio may be found here.
